Lee Ufan
Relatum
2012

tag tema

Relatum by the Korean artist Lee Ufan juxtaposes the lightness of glass with the heaviness of stone. The two materials meet in a dialogue that can only finish with something breaking. Ufan installs his works in person. The moment he lets the stone fall onto the glass and break it is crucial. Ufan’s work is a reflection on the way energy passes through things and the way they interact: the stone remains identical despite Ufan’s act, but the glass is shattered, leaving a casual design on the floor. Ufan’s work is finished.
