#8x8' Fourfold was exhibited in Palazzo Grassi, during its exhibition The Illusion of Light. It consists of eight neon tubes of different colours, which, through two interceptors, can create four sequences. In the first one, only the tubes numbered 2 3 6 7 are lit; in the second one, tubes 1 4 5 8 are lit; in the third one, all the tubes are lit; and in the fourth one, all the tubes are off. The work is activated by pressing the interceptors, and a rhythm is created – but it is a rhythm that’s heard rather than seen. The artist is interested in creating different light combinations but, on this occasion, gives the visitor the task of deciding the perfect combination. It is up to us to decide what to light and what to switch off to achieve the perfect visual harmony.
