When faces shape a landscape
The New York artist Roni Horn, born in 1955, works with drawing, sculpture and photography. The themes she treats are wide-ranging, but she focuses mainly on the theme of identity, which she believes isn’t fixed but changes continuously. Horn is famous for the project ‘You are the weather’. For this, she took one hundred photographs of a friend in Iceland, the silent land, so dear to this woman. From one shot to the next, her friend’s identity changes unperceivably whilst at the same time remaining identical. These reflections on identity also touch on nature and its changes. In other works, Horn’s area of interest and reflection is the most changeable of elements: water.
