Eija-Liisa Ahtila was born in Finland in 1959. Her first interest was conceptual art but she has progressively used more video in her installations. According to Ahtila, all you need to create a story is a movie camera. Thanks to cinema devices, the artist can quickly reproduce whatever she wants, and even witness events that in fact never happened. Apart from cinema, her other passion is psychoanalysis, which is why the characters populating her stories always include troubled people, often affected by psychic problems or obsessed with fear and anxiety.
